While Argentina is an incredible country that offers so much, it isn’t known for its coffee. As someone who is borderline obsessed with coffee (okay okay, COMPLETELY obsessed with coffee), I wasn’t sure how spending five weeks this summer there was going to go. I needlessly worried because Buenos Aires is undergoing a coffee revolution and not only did I found some delicious coffee, I spent a majority of my time in these cafes and they each felt like home. On your trip, be sure to check out some of the best coffee in Buenos Aires:
LAB
Location: Belgrano & Palermo
LAB is easily one of the best Buenos Aires Cafes. The first thing about LAB is that you HAVE to get their chocolate chip cookies! I know I know, this post is about coffee but dear god those cookies made me weak at the knees and what better accompaniment to your coffee than a cookie? LAB has two locations in Buenos Aires: Palermo and Belgrano and both of them are wonderful. I spent many hours doing work in the Belgrano location and can’t recommend it enough. While a normal latte here is delectable, if you’re looking for something different to try, go for their coffee kombucha. I’ve never tasted anything like it and I definitely miss it!
OSS Kafe
Location: Belgrano
I immediately fell in love with this quaint place. The atmosphere is cozy and you’ll be enticed by the aroma of fresh coffee the moment you step foot inside. First and foremost, the owner is a gem and is always super friendly. A couple of the times I went there, he had just freshly baked a pastry and gave me some to try. This is one of those neighborhood spots that easily became a go to spot for me on my way to class each morning. Order a latte and a freshly baked pastry and you won’t regret it.
Cafe Lattente
Location: Palermo
Located in the heart of Palermo, this is another one of my favorite coffee spots. Not only is the location excellent, but the owners roast their own beans and are very passionate about the coffee culture. A bit of a small space and they don’t have wifi so don’t necessarily recommend working here, but you can usually snag a seat at the bar or grab a coffee to go. Their cappuccinos are truly excellent.
All Saints Cafe
Location: Belgrano
All Saints Cafe is a beautiful cafe located in Belgrano. This is a great place to grab a cup and hang out as it is dotted with comfy couches and a barista station. I recommend any of their specialty beverages but especially a cappuccino or a flat white.
Full City Coffee House
Location: Palermo
Not too far from Cafe Lattente, you’ll find Full City Coffee House. This is another spot that I spent a lot of time working in over the summer. Their coffee is excellent and they also have a variety of food options that are equally as delectable. The people working there are also super friendly and are happy to explain any items on the menu.
Catoti Cafe
Location: Belgrano
Cleary, I had a lot of coffee when I was in Buenos Aires. Catoti Cafe was another go to spot on my way to class. The lady who would always make my coffee was incredibly sweet and genuinely always looked happy to see me. My one complaint with coffee in general in Buenos Aires was that it wasn’t strong enough but the coffee at Catoti Cafe is both strong and flavorful aka perfect for those early mornings.
