With Valentine’s day around the corner, cross off two birds with one stone: get a trip and some romance in by planning a romantic getaway! And if you’re single AF, that doesn’t mean these romantic cities aren’t for you. Grab a friend because Galentine’s day is totally a thing.

Here are some of the most romantic cities across the United States and the rest of the world that are perfect for your next romantic getaway

Asheville, NC

This had to be first because this is my personal favorite (I know, I know not everything is about me). Asheville has everything you want in a romantic destination: beautiful mountain views, mouthwatering food, plenty of cozy wine and cocktail bars. And let’s not forget, the epic Biltmore. What screams romance more than a massive mansion that you wish you owned and lived in? After you get over that bout of jealousy, go wine tasting in the Biltmore village or enjoy a candlelit dinner.

Charleston, SC

This city truly has something for everyone. Spend your weekend shopping hand in hand on King Street, strolling through Battery Park where there are frequently beautiful weddings that you can catch a glimpse of, exploring Magnolia Gardens, or being transported back in time on the cobblestoned roads. Check out one of the many ghost tours which are always fun but even better when you have someone to cling to when you’re convinced that the ghost is personally targeting you.

Napa Valley, CA

Wine is undoubtedly the most romantic of all types of all alcohol so what could be more romantic than a weekend in beautiful Napa Valley? Spend it discovering the local wineries. Don’t just taste the wines! Learn about the different techniques and the history behind the wineries. Pack a picnic basket and enjoy it (and your slight buzz) in between your wine tastings. You’ll have a wonderfully romantic weekend and maybe you’ll finally learn how to use the word “tannin” in a sentence.

Charlottesville, VA

Virginia is for lovers and Charlottesville is the perfect base for a romantic getaway. Spend a day exploring the local wineries just outside of Charlottesville. Get some Southern history in and explore Jefferson’s Monticello. After your visit, head up to Carter Mountain Orchard for some jaw droppingly stunning views. Explore the orchard and drink in the view (literally they have local wine and hard cider made with their fruits!). Be sure to also get their fresh apple cider donuts. Don’t be cute and try to split one with your partner. You’ll just end up fighting and breaking up.

Florence, Italy

Time to learn how to say, “Potrei guardarti tutto il giorno”. It means “I could look at you all day”. I personally would say that to a big bowl of pasta or a scoop of gelato. But I guess it would be romantic if your partner said it to you too. Florence is a perfect city for romance. How can you not feel romantic when viewing great works of art like Michelangelo’s David or drinking wine in the heart of Tuscany?  Enjoy a cozy dinner on one of the side streets and trust me by the end of the weekend, you’ll fall in love all over again.

Paris, France

Everything about Paris exudes romance. Have a perfectly lazy day sprawled out on the lawn in front of the Eiffel Tower with a picnic basket packed with a fresh baguette, some local cheese, and of course, bubbly. Take a cruise on the Seine River and enjoy a view of the city from a different angle. Even if you just spend the weekend exploring the different avenues, you will have an incredibly romantic trip.

Montreal, Canada

Get a European vibe without the transatlantic flight. You’ll hear French at every twist and turn. while you explore the city. Montreal’s Old Town has romance written all over it. With cafes lining the cobblestone streets, you’ll feel the romance with every step. Share a crepe (or two) in a cozy restaurant or indulge in a five to seven course menu degustation or tasting menu.

Ever since I can remember I've loved to travel. As I get older, travel continues to be a priority and I find myself with an insatiable desire to travel as much as I possibly can. My travel style has shifted from jam packing my trips with the top sights and hopping from city to city to slower travel. I loves exploring lesser known destinations, connecting to the culture through food and wine, and supporting local-owned businesses. Every trip I take is an elevated adventure.

  1. I love how you have some cities that I would never have considered on here before. Charleston never would have crossed my mind, but it sounds like I have some exploring to do!

  2. What a great list! My husband and I are actually going to Charlottesville, VA for our vacation this spring (also happens to be my hometown so I can attest to this as deserving to be on this list, hehe). Thanks for sharing! 🙂
