On my second trip to Athens, I fell absolutely head over heels in love with the city (I know that tends to happen to me a lot but seriously…this was quite the love affair). Part of this was definitely attributed to the hotel I stayed at, the New Hotel. In the heart of Athens, the New Hotel was the perfect home base for exploring the ancient city. Ideally situated just a few blocks away from Syntagma Square, I was able to walk from one historical site to the next and discover all the local spots in between. If there is one thing that will help you have the best time in Athens, being well located is definitely it.
Formally the Olympic Palace hotel, the New Hotel is the product of renowned designer duo, Fernando and Humberto Campana. And boy what a talented duo…I mean why can’t I be that talented? This one of a kind hotel includes recycled remnants of it’s predecessor for a completely fresh, innovative, and design centric feel. The luxury rooms, scrumptious restaurant, and stunning rooftop art lounge are all designed in unique themes, giving the guests the most elevated experience. Upon arriving at the hotel, the reception was warm and friendly. They even had these yummy little chocolate pieces (I may or may not have snuck a few extra). As you check in, you’ll be just as entranced by the elegant intricacies that make up the cozy lobby as I was.
The freshly designed rooms are spacious and were so welcome after a long flight. Each room is styled according to three design concepts, based on a different element of Greek culture. Our room showcased postcards depicting old Athens. The other two concepts that can be found in the rooms are evil eye amulets and traditional shadow puppets. The design elements even extends into the bathroom with regal blocky, sharp-edged washbasins in a beautiful gold. Our room had two balconies, giving us the luxury of witnessing the busy life of Athens from two different perspectives.
No matter if you get a very early start to the day or lazily make your way down after sleeping in a bit, breakfast at the New Hotel is something to experience. I was like a kid in a candy store. What can I say? I’m obsessed with food. Don’t judge. The expansive buffet features tasty options like Greek yogurt, fresh fruits, assorted cold cuts, a variety of different breads, and more. Yes, I had multiple plates.
After that full day, head up to the Art Lounge where views of the breathtaking Acropolis greet you. Unwind with a glass of Greek wine and soak in the beautiful view and lights of the city.
New Hotel is truly a premiere place to call home. It is luxurious, sophisticated, and sleek yet feels intimate and cozy for a city stay.

First off I love the name New Hotel haha
Secondly, when traveling, walking distance to what we want to explore is always our top priority! Also, it doesn’t hurt that this hotel is super cute!
Yes, exactly! If I can’t walk to most places, I’m not a happy camper. It really was a cute hotel 🙂
This really sound like a great hotel. I’d definitely like to try it out sometime. I stayed close to Monastiraki Square on my last trip but I’ve heard Syntagma Square is great too.
It really is! I loved it…I can’t wait to go back!
This hotel looks beautiful! I love that the decor ties in to it’s location, like the postcards, with just a little bit of funky/modern! Stunning!
