Click here for a mobile itinerary for three days in Seville that opens up right in your google maps application! You can never spend enough time in any of Spain, but with three days in Seville you can get an overview of some of the main sights and the local culture. My sister and I had the opportunity to spend six incredible months here and we have included the best of the best in this itinerary, including some fantastic off the beaten path recommendations Day 1: The Major Sites Check into your hotel early in the morning. If your rooms aren’t ready, ask to leave your luggage so that you can begin sightseeing. The city center is incredibly compact so if you stay here you won’t have to worry about transportation. If you haven’t already eaten breakfast (or if you want a second one, go ahead I won’t judge), head to…
Sometimes you want to travel and you just can’t. Whether that be your bank account screaming at you while you hurriedly refresh the page praying that it’s not true. Or you’re out of vacation days and a weekend trip doesn’t appeal to you. Whatever the reason may be, you can still “travel” and be a tourist in your own city. I’m talking about the ultimate staycation folks. Here’s how to do it! Find a hotel Skip this step if you’re broke AF but if you’re not, then consider booking a hotel for your staycation even if it’s just for the night. It’ll give you a change of scenery and make you feel like you’re traveling even if you’re just down the street. I’m always a sucker for a good hotel. Look up things to do in your city Don’t roll your eyes at me! Seriously don’t give me the whole…
I shudder at the thought of the person I’d be today if I never traveled. Seriously. So much of who I am is because of traveling. It’s truly my drug of choice (well that and cheese…has anyone investigated if this is actually a drug because it has to be) and it’s made my life colorful and adventurous. If you’re a big traveler then I’m sure you agree with me and if you’re not, just remember, it’s never too late to start traveling! Here’s 9 (out of a million) ways travel makes your life better You have more fun Let’s start with the obvious way travel makes your life better: it adds more fun into your life. As much as I love to curl up on a couch and watch some Netflix, the fun I have traveling is unparalleled. These are the memories you’re going to look back at. Skydiving on…
With Valentine’s day around the corner, cross off two birds with one stone: get a trip and some romance in by planning a romantic getaway! And if you’re single AF, that doesn’t mean these romantic cities aren’t for you. Grab a friend because Galentine’s day is totally a thing. Here are some of the most romantic cities across the United States and the rest of the world that are perfect for your next romantic getaway Asheville, NC This had to be first because this is my personal favorite (I know, I know not everything is about me). Asheville has everything you want in a romantic destination: beautiful mountain views, mouthwatering food, plenty of cozy wine and cocktail bars. And let’s not forget, the epic Biltmore. What screams romance more than a massive mansion that you wish you owned and lived in? After you get over that bout of jealousy, go…
So you’ve decided to make travel a priority. You’ve picked the dates, chosen a destination, and now you’re ready to start planning. So now what? Looking at the entire process of planning a trip can make you hyperventilate. Especially if you’ve never planned a trip before. Relax. Take it one step at a time. Let’s just start from the beginning. The first step in planning a trip is setting a budget (unless you’re a baller then go on with your bad self). And I’m going to show you exactly how to do it. Plus, there’s a free travel budget planning workbook that you can download right here. Step 1: Pick your total budget number The first rule of thumb with setting a budget is to pick a number that you are okay going over. Things happen. You miss a bus and have to pay for another ticket. Or you absolutely…
If you’re anything like me, you made your list of New Year’s Resolutions on the 2nd and vowed to start sticking to them on the 3rd (hey… a couple of days late never hurt anyone). I am an organization freak so each of my resolutions fits perfectly into a category and yes, I made a spreadsheet to help me track progress/completion (which you can totally download if you want it. Just click here). One category that is always on my list of resolutions/goals is to travel more. And it should be on yours too. If it’s not, go ahead and add it. It’s not too late. It’s still January! So why should travel be on your list? Well first of all, you wouldn’t be reading this if you weren’t interested in making travel a priority. Second of all, travel helps maintain your work/life balance. It keeps you sane, helps you grow…
When people think about Athens, they immediately think, “Okay, I just need to do one day jam packed with every single historic site there is in Athens and then I’ll hop on my flight to Santorini and be on my merry way”. I then ask those types of people how they liked Athens and the response is “eh it was okay, not for me.” Well of course it was just okay, you ninny. All you did was play tourist and check items off your list. Don’t get me wrong, the historic sites of Athens are breathtakingly amazing. To stand on the Acropolis knowing that you are witnessing thousands of years of history, is a truly awe-inspiring moment. But, that’s not all that Athens has to offer and it would be a shame to leave the city without seeing the rest! So what are the best things to do in Athens…
Five years ago there would be no way that I could write this post. In fact, I would probably laugh in your face if you told me to give packing tips. I’m the girl that would have to sit on her suitcase, hoping that my body weight alone would be enough to somehow make all the contents compress to half the size, while someone else had to try and zip it. It was rough. I mean zippers broke, the sheer effort lacerated people’s fingers, and I was always left having to think of creative ways to somehow get all my stuff to my final destination. Clearly, I was an idiot. I never even wore half of that stuff. Luckily, studying abroad in Spain my junior year of college was like going into rehab and I quickly learned how to be a smarter packer. Sometimes I do relapse (don’t we all)…
Thinking of planning a trip to Greece in the winter and not sure if the off season is for you? Well, go ahead and purchase that airline ticket because winter in Greece is a perfect time to travel. Don’t believe me just yet, here are some reasons to convince you: The weather is still nice The first time I went to Greece was in the summer and there were moments of the day where my shirt was sticking to me and I had to stop at every stand to buy some more water. Dehydration is not a game, folks. As much as I love the summer, sometimes a nice brisk breeze is what I really need in life. If you go to Greece during the off-season, especially in the month of November, the weather will be in the low 60’s which is extremely pleasant. Plus if you’re lucky, there will…
On my second trip to Athens, I fell absolutely head over heels in love with the city (I know that tends to happen to me a lot but seriously…this was quite the love affair). Part of this was definitely attributed to the hotel I stayed at, the New Hotel. In the heart of Athens, the New Hotel was the perfect home base for exploring the ancient city. Ideally situated just a few blocks away from Syntagma Square, I was able to walk from one historical site to the next and discover all the local spots in between. If there is one thing that will help you have the best time in Athens, being well located is definitely it. Formally the Olympic Palace hotel, the New Hotel is the product of renowned designer duo, Fernando and Humberto Campana. And boy what a talented duo…I mean why can’t I be that talented? This…
