When I bought my plane ticket to London, the first thing I did, besides pray that it wouldn’t be pouring the entire time, was look up where to stay. My memory of London from my first trip there was that it was vast and the location we stayed at was so far from everything that we ended up lost on the tube for a large part of the trip. I was determined to not let that be the case again. Thankfully, my search was relatively short. Within minutes, I stumbled upon the Arch London Hotel. Good location? Check. Stunning photos? Check. Award winning restaurant for those lazy meals where I don’t want to venture out? Check. Done and done. I didn’t have to look any further.

*Champagne Flight was welcomed as a guest at the Arch London Hotel. As always, all opinions are own.

We flew into Gatwick and headed to the Arch London Hotel bright and early. Located near the Marble Arch, the journey wasn’t bad at all and we enjoyed getting glimpses of the city as we drove. Tucked away on a quiet street, the entrance to the Arch London is modest with the allure of a boutique hotel. The moment we got out of the car, our luggage was carried inside and we were ushered to the check in desk. The lobby of the hotel is quaint with a stunning piece of artwork greeting you immediately in the entrance hallway. There is a lovely sitting room right next to the check in desk, that felt inviting and boasted a few comfy armchairs to hang out in.

I was already extremely impressed with the service and even more so when they led us to our room, giving us a tour along the way. As soon as the door to the suite opened, I immediately fell head over heels in love. Royal blue, both sophisticated and vibrant, accented the walls and intermixed with intricate designs. The headboard of the bed was solid blue, contrasting with the walls for a wonderful design centric feel. It was evident that a lot of attention to detail went into the room.

The room contained further accent pieces, a regal armchair and a couch with a coffee table, containing a welcome platter with an assortment of sweets. We even had our own private patio complete with wicker furniture. The perfect spot to enjoy a morning coffee (or tea, you are in London after all). Even though London was at my fingertips, I found myself torn between wanting to explore and wanting to curl up on the cozy couch with a good book.

There were places to explore and phone booths to take pictures in front of (I couldn’t resist getting that typical tourist photo).

After a wonderful first day in the city, we returned to the hotel where we’d made dinner reservations at the Arch London’s restaurant, Hunter 486.

We got to the restaurant and they asked us if we’d like to start the evening off with cocktails in their lounge area. The answer to that question is always yes. We sat in plush high backed armchairs, which were so welcome after our long day on our feet and ordered our drinks. My go to is always an Old Fashioned (what can I say? I’m a bourbon girl) and I’m incredibly picky on how it’s made. A lot of restaurants and bars make it way too sweet for my taste. I took a small sip of my drink and was surprised to find that Hunter 486 had not made that mistake. The drink was perfectly balanced and served as a wonderful start to the evening.

Once we were seated at our table, we chose the three course dinner option and were brought some warm freshly baked homemade bread to start with. The first course actually blew me away. I am a huge fan of cheese but have a special obsession with burrata and this truly was some of the best burrata I’ve ever had.

My partner tried to sneak a bite and I practically knocked his hand away. Creamy and paired with grilled zucchini and peppers with a dash of pesto, I almost licked the plate clean. For the second course, I tried their gnocchi, crispy on the outside yet soft on the inside and tossed with pine nuts to give it a great texture and nutty flavor.

I was stuffed by the time dessert came around, but managed to take a few bites of the panna cotta and steal some of my partner’s chocolate cake (yes…I know that wasn’t fair since I didn’t give him any of the burrata).

It was simply put, a wonderful evening. The courses were well timed and the staff was very attentive. I was looking forward to returning in the morning for breakfast!

We made our way back to our room where the turndown service made the bed look warm and inviting. But I didn’t want to end my evening just yet. A bubble bath with a good book was calling my name. I stepped into the bathroom. The deep royal blue extending throughout, a seamless continuation of the suite was stunning. Seriously,  with the grandiose shower with an overhead shower head, the large spacious countertops, and the expansive tub with a TV built into the tiled wall, I felt like I was royalty. If only this could be my bathroom back home!

After my bath, I sunk into the luscious bed. Oh man was it comfortable. As soon as my head hit the pillow I was fast asleep. The next morning I struggled to get out of bed. There’s nothing like snuggling with tons of pillows. The only thing that managed to get me out was the prospect of breakfast (I never say no to food).

And good thing I made my way down because breakfast at Hunter 486 was better than most breakfasts at hotels I’d been to. As a vegetarian who doesn’t eat eggs, breakfast and I have a constant battle. I usually end up with some sad bread and breakfast potatoes when I am traveling. Luckily, the Arch London provides for their vegetarian guests. My partner and I got the same breakfast plate, except mine had tofu and a vegetarian sausage. Perfection.

As you can probably tell, my love for this hotel was growing with every moment. I had to see more. The staff was able to accommodate a show around. They walked me through the ins and outs of the Arch London. I learned that the Arch London was formally seven townhomes and two mews, which for me added to the charm all the more as we stepped through the different homes to view some of the other guestrooms. In keeping with the design elements, each room we saw was completely unique, all boasting a different color scheme. It was hard to choose a favorite!

The Arch London also offers a fully equipped gym, a library where they do afternoon tea, and a business center. And of course, I saved the best for last. The Arch London is also home to wonderful art collection specifically curated to showcase talented emerging artists. How cool is that?

I was sad to leave at the end of my trip. I’ve always preferred boutique hotels over chain hotels. After staying at the Arch London, the bar for boutique hotels has moved up. Every moment of our stay was absolutely perfect and I now have a new favorite hotel. If you don’t stay at the Arch London on your trip to London, you’re doing it wrong.

Ever since I can remember I've loved to travel. As I get older, travel continues to be a priority and I find myself with an insatiable desire to travel as much as I possibly can. My travel style has shifted from jam packing my trips with the top sights and hopping from city to city to slower travel. I loves exploring lesser known destinations, connecting to the culture through food and wine, and supporting local-owned businesses. Every trip I take is an elevated adventure.

  1. London is my favorite city, and that hotel is adorable! Every detail in it so perfect – can’t get over that wallpaper!

  2. I LOVE that blue wallpaper! It’s so great when hotels feel luxurious and cozy – more than just a room with a bed in it!

  3. I think I have bathroom envy. Wow. That bathroom is bigger than my bedroom 🙂 Gorgeous hotel and very decent sized rooms for London. I’ve stayed in hotels in London where there is just enough room for a person + suitcase. The food looks lovely too, although you haven’t convinced me about the breakfast. That is not what we would call a ‘full English’. I don’t really know what we’d call that! haha
